A research was conducted by Joseph A.Allen, NaleLehmann-Willenbrock and Stephanie J.Sandsa at University of Nebraska-Omaha U.S., VU University Amsterdam Netherlands..

This research was conducted by Universities of USA and Netherlands to know effect of meetings on employee performance. For this research people were selected from directory of old graduates from university at USA and asked to tell their meeting experiences. Data was collected with the help of online survey. First survey was sent to 248 senior employees of companies. The second survey was again sent to 248 employees from whom 148 (Gender: male 48%, female 62%; Age 24 – 65 years) responded

Research was published in 2019 in the Journal of Business Research. 248 Directors, Managers and Supervisors participated in the research.

The research is of normal value (6 out of 10) as data was collected from a small sample but positive aspect is that sample was taken from random people. In addition, statistical tests showed that that the data collected for research was normal

People think that meetings are not good. Employees waste lot of time in them. According to a research an employee spends about 6 hours a week in meetings. Employees complain about meetings and say that these are not effective. Meetings have negative effect on employee job satisfaction, he loses trust in his firm and develop bad attitude toward his work

This research has proved that meetings are good for employees. Meetings increase communication, employees discuss with each other about different problems and all collectively find solutions for their issues at job. Meetings empower employees as they get more information. It makes workers more competent and in return they give more attention to their jobs

Meetings are good for employees as they get new knowledge by discussion and feel self-determined and competent. But meetings shall not be long enough, that employees spend too much time in meetings and their actual work remains pending.
